Aerosmith tour derailed again after Steven Tyler falls from stage
It seems like Aerosmith just can’t get a break – healthwise, that is.
While performing at the famed Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, SD, on August 5, singer Steven Tyler, 61, fell off the stage and had to be airlifted to a local hospital. He is being treated for minor head and neck injuries and a shoulder injury.
According to reports, the sound system failed while the band performed “Love in an Elevator," midway through the show. To keep the crowd entertained, Tyler danced around on a catwalk and fell backwards into the crowd.
Guitarist Joe Perry came out onstage and informed the crowd that Tyler was being taken to the hospital.
"He was good natured about it," Mike Sanborn of the Buffalo Chip Campground, told the Associated Press. "He was talking and joking with the physician."
The full number of potential concert cancellations or postponements stemming from Tyler’s latest injury has not been determined.
This is the latest health-related casualty the group has suffered during their summer tour. Previously seven concerts were cancelled while Tyler recovered from a leg injury sustained while performing at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, on June 28. Then, after guitarist Brad Whitfield returned to the tour after recovering from surgery, bassist Tom Hamilton had to miss some shows while he recovered from his own non-invasive surgery.
