As presidential candidate Barack Obama re-energizes for the North Carolina primary on May 6, following his defeat in the Pennsylvania primary to rival Hillary Clinton, he will find support in the Tar Heel State from Arcade Fire and Superchunk with two days of free concerts.

The two artists will perform May 1 and 2 at Obama rallies in Greensboro at the Coliseum Complex Pavilion Parking Lot, and in Carrboro at Carrboro Town Commons as part of the campaign's "Change Rocks" One-Stop Early Voting Concerts. Gates open at 1 p.m.

Tickets become available tomorrow, April 24, and are free, but space is limited and admissions are on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information, check the Obama website. The shows are just the latest example of how the Democratic candidates are actively courting younger voters with concerts and other events.

"This is a defining moment for this country," said Win Butler of Arcade Fire, in a statement. "We want to encourage people to get up, get out, and go vote."

Arcade Fire and Superchunk join a growing list of musicians singing their support for both Democratic presidential candidates, including Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Dave Matthews and the Grateful Dead for Obama, and Sir Elton John for Clinton.
