Bob Dylan tour heads to UK and Europe for 2009 dates
Having completed two North American tour legs in 2008, legendary American performer Bob Dylan has announced plans to continue his travels with a second European leg next year. The 26-city trek begins in mainland Europe on March 23 at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, and ends its run in the British-Irish Isles with May 5 and 6 gigs at the O2 Arena in Dublin, Ireland.
Bob Dylan and his band will stop along the way for a special three-night performance April 10-12 at Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and an April 25 concert at the O2 Arena in London, England, among other dates. More European stops are expected to be added to the itinerary in the future.
Tickets for most of the UK gigs are currently on sale, and public on-sales for the first night at Dublin's O2 Arena began today (December 8). The remaining on-sale dates and other ticketing information will be announced later on Dylan's Web site.
In October, the iconic singer-songwriter announced that tickets for a special concert at the United Palace Theatre in New York City would be available exclusively through his Web site. Each sale required a password and purchases were limited to four tickets. The special November 21 performance had not previously been announced as a stop on his fall North American tour leg, which primarily featured concert dates in Canada.
Over the summer, Dylan completed a 30-city tour across Europe, which ran May 24 through July 11. This outing was followed with the singer-songwriter's first full North American tour leg of the season, which included 18 dates and ran August 8 through September 7.
