Bonnie Raitt performs benefit for Congressman John Hall

By Bob Grossweiner & Jane Cohen

Bonnie Raitt -- along with special guests Nanci Griffith, John Sebastian and friends -- will be performing a benefit concert for Democrat Representative John Hall of New York on October 12 at the Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie, NY. There is a good chance Hall will be one of the "friends" appearing at the event.

Hall, a first time congressman, represents New York's 19th congressional district. In the previous election in 2006, he unseated six-time incumbent Republican Sue W. Kelly in an upset victory.

Tickets are $85-$65. There is also a limited number of gold circle tickets available that include a post-concert backstage artists' gathering at $250 and a limited number of silver circle, preferred seating tickets, at $150.

Hall is the former lead singer/guitarist of Orleans, which had a hit back in 1976 with "Still the One." In 1977, he left Orleans to start a solo career and became active in the anti-nuclear movement. He co-founded Musicians United for Safe Energy along with Raitt, Jackson Browne and Graham Nash in 1977. Hall also rejoined Orleans three times: 1990, 1996 and 2000.
