Brand New tour plots headline dates for 'Daisy' this fall
Punk band Brand New will spend more than a month on the road this fall as the group promotes its latest album with a headline tour. The venture begins October 1 at Time Warner Cable Amphitheater in Cleveland, OH, and ends November 28 at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY.
The 40-date trek includes stops from coast to coast across the United States, as well as a couple dates in the eastern provinces of Canada. The tour also includes several multiple-night engagements booked for October 20-21 at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA; November 14-15 at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA; November 17-18 at the House of Blues in Boston, MA; and November 21-22 at Kool Haus in Toronto, ON.
Though the tour's opening date is still a couple months off, one venue change has already been made for the itinerary. The band's November 24 concert in Rochester was originally scheduled for Main Street Armory, but has since been rescheduled for Dome Arena. Both venues are approximately the same size, though the Armory has a slightly larger capacity than the Dome.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale to the general public starting August 10.
Three opening acts have been booked for the jaunt and will provide support on separate legs of the trek. Manchester Orchestra will be along for the first leg, from opening night through October 23. Thrice picks up supporting duties on October 25 and remains on the bill through November 14. Glassjaw closes out the final portion from November 15 on.
Brand New will be promoting its upcoming fourth studio album, "Daisy," scheduled for release on September 22. The record is a follow-up to the November 2006 release "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me," which debuted at No. 31 on the Billboard 200.
"It's a pretty exhausting record. It's quite dense and I think some of the decisions we made don't always go in the most obvious direction," frontman Jesse Lacey said of the upcoming album in a recent interview with Kerrang!. "We were thinking a lot more about what we'd want to play when we were up onstage rather than actually what you'd want to hear on a record."
