Celine Dion tour postpones concert due to illness
Celine Dion has postponed her October 30 show at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN, until December 18. All tickets purchased for the October 30 concert will be honored on the new date.
The singer "has been battling a respiratory virus for the past week, performed the second of two consecutive shows in Winnipeg [on October 28] but left the stage weak and breathless," AEG Live said in a statement posted on Dion's Web site.
The statement continued, "Her doctor stated that despite antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, bronchodilators and mucolytic agents prescribed for her condition, she has continued to worsen and, he insists that she refrain from singing for the next five days, in order for her to recover completely."
Dion is currently on her Taking Chances World Tour after completing her five-year (2003-2007) residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV. Her next scheduled show is November 4 at the United Center in Chicago, IL. The vocalist launched her world tour on August 12 in Boston, MA, and has dates confirmed through February 15, 2009.
Two career retrospectives albums for the performer were released on October 28: the single disc "My Love: Essential Collection" and an expanded, two-disc set "My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection."
November 5, 2008: This story was changed to show the correct postponement date of December 18.
