Comcast-Spectacor acquires Ticketmaster's Paciolan ticketing division
As recommended by the Department of Justice when it approved the Ticketmaster/Live Nation merger, Comcast-Spectacor has acquired Ticketmaster's Paciolan ticketing division for an undisclosed amount, the parties announced earlier today.
Paciolan will operate as a separate entity from Comcast-Spectacor's New Era Tickets division, the company said, and Paciolan will continue to work with its roster of more than 100 colleges, venues, performing arts groups and other organizational clients. In addition to New Era Tickets, Comcast-Spectacor also owns the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers.
"This is a very exciting opportunity for our company as we continue to grow into a total entertainment provider of national and international scope," Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko said in a statement. "Paciolan technology is highly desired and has an outstanding reputation in the industry. As part of the Comcast-Spectacor family of companies, Paciolan will be able to benefit from many synergistic opportunities involving our roster of clients throughout the world.
He added, "We thought very highly of (Paciolan CEO) Dave Butler and (Paciolan Founder) Jane Kleinberger during the period we were minority owners of Paciolan (2004-08). We look forward to extending our relationship with both of them and their entire team."
Ticketmaster bought Paciolan in 2007 for an undisclosed amount, but it was more than $59 million because the deal exceeded that financial threshold, which triggered a federal review.
"We are so excited to unite our client-focused approach with the strength of Comcast-Spectacor," Paciolan CEO Dave Butler said in a statement. "Our tremendous agility and focus, when combined with Comcast-Spectacor's support, will enable us to better provide our clients with world-class ticketing, fundraising and marketing solutions."

Comcast certainly has the resources to make sure Paciolen gets the attention and support it needs. It will be interesting to see if Comcast can integrate some new technologies faster than Ticketmaster was doing with Paciolen previously. IE: mobile ticketing, etc...
New Era ticketing has been around for years, it would be nice to see them challenge Ticketmaster more on the East Coast
