Creed tour celebrates late summer reunion with U.S. concerts
The original line-up of once-reigning rock group Creed is reforming for a summer tour of the United States and a new album. Frontman Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips will perform together again in approximately 40 cities across the nation.
Venues for the trek are yet to be announced, but cities and dates are lined up from the August 6 opening in Pittsburgh, PA, through the October 14 closer in Nashville, TN. Concerts are also booked for August 18 in Boston, MA; August 30 in Chicago, IL; September 19 in New Orleans, LA; and October 3 in Denver, CO, among other dates.
Creed tickets will be on sale starting May 8 for the show in Washington, DC. Remaining on-sales are split over the remainder of the month, with blocks of shows going on sale on May 9, May 16 and May 30. More concert information can be found on the official Creed Web site.
The members of Creed officially parted ways in 2004, with Stapp pursuing a solo career and the other three forming the band Alter Bridge. According to published reports, the main issue leading to the split was not one of creative differences, but personal problems between Stapp and the rest of the band. Tremonti told MTV News at the time, "None of us really argued amongst each other. It was always Scott [Stapp] who had the problem."
But those differences seem to be behind the band now, as they not only plan to complete the late summer/early fall tour, but also return to the studio for their first new album in eight years. Details for the album, including a projected timeline for its release, have not been announced.
"Our career as Creed came to a very abrupt and unforeseen ending," Phillips said in a recent statement announcing the reformation. "After reflecting on some of the greatest personal and professional moments of our lives, we've come to realize that we are still very capable of continuing that career and our friendship on a grander scale than ever before."
Meanwhile, Stapp noted, "Time gave us all a chance to reflect, grow and gain a deeper appreciation of our friendships, artistic chemistry, passion for music, and sincere love for our fans! It's rare in life to get a second chance to make a first impression and we embrace the opportunity."
Creed debuted in 1997 with "My Own Prison," followed by the band's biggest hit "Human Clay" in 1999 and their final recording "Weathered" in 2001. All three albums have been certified multi-Platinum, while "Human Clay" went on to receive Diamond status.

Everyone wants to hate. yeah, I'd like to see them go triple DIAMOND, sell 35 millions records, right? exactly.
This is the BEST news I’ve ever heard…in my entire life. The one band that actually improved people’s lives by giving them a second Christ to look up to and give true hope that life can be worth living! Scott Stapp will be remembered as the songwriter of our generation, not to mention easily the best SHOW of our Millenia! Even his National Anthem soars skyscraper-height over Aretha’s inaugural rendition! I love Aretha, who doesn’t, but Scott dominates... and we should bestow upon him the honor and rock-god glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
Officially,
Wicked Celtics
