Dolly Parton has cancelled her October 31 concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ.

According to a post on her Web site, an unforeseen change in her personal schedule has necessitated the cancellation. "Dolly sincerely regrets this inconvenience to fans and is looking forward to the rest of the tour, which runs through November 19 in Des Moines, IA," the post said.

It should be noted that the concert was originally booked into the 9,000-seat Theater at Izod Center (a scaled down Izod Arena) in East Rutherford, NJ, but on September 16, was moved to the more intimate 2,868-capacity NJPAC. In May, Parton sold out Radio City Music Hall with no advertising needed.

Parton is touring in support of her latest album, "Backwoods Barbie," which was released in February on her new Dolly Records label.

Parton's world tour had a couple of missteps earlier in the year when she had to first postpone and then reschedule it while she recovered from a back condition. Originally set to launch February 28, it finally got off the ground April 28.

In other news, the "9 to 5" musical for which Parton wrote the music and lyrics, had a September 9-October 19 run at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. Now Broadway bound, previews were originally scheduled to begin at the Marquis Theatre March 24, 2009, but "9 to 5" will now arrive at the Marquis April 7, 2009, and officially open April 30, 2009.
