Fall Out Boy tour announces intimate club concerts for November
In preparation for the band's fifth album "Folie a Deux," Fall Out Boy (FOB) has announced plans for a few club concerts this November. Only two dates have been confirmed so far, beginning with a November 6 gig at Harpers Ferry in Boston, MA, and followed by a November 7 show at Northstar Bar in Philadelphia, PA.
"This will not be a tour and will, for the most part, not be in areas we have played in a while," the band explained in a post on its official Web site. "These shows will take place in extremely small clubs that we played in prior to 'Take This to Your Grave' [FOB's second album]."
All ticket sales were originally slated to be held the day of each event, but a later update on the site noted that limited ticket presales were available to members of the official fan club, Overcast Kids. Additionally, FOB announced that two tickets for each city were set aside as giveaways, which fans could enter to win via city specific text messages. More dates for the club concert series are expected in the future.
FOB has opened the supporting slot for the Boston and Philadelphia shows to unsigned local bands. According to the application form at FriendsOrEnemies.com, the deadline for submissions to the first two shows is November 4 at 11:59 p.m. (EST), with winners announced and notified the following day.
The intimate club concerts were developed by the band members, as an apology of sorts for pushing back the release date for "Folie a Deux" to December 16. The record was originally intended to hit store shelves today (November 4) as Election Day commentary, but as the presidential race grew more contentious, the band rethought the release date.
"Six months ago we thought it would be a fun idea to release our album on Election Day but this is not the election to be cute," the band explained in a statement in October. "This is the most important election of our time and, as much as the record is a social commentary and the term 'folie a deux' is relevant to the candidates, we felt as though rather than making a commentary we were only riding the wave of the election. This seemed less and less like what we intended to do and more of a gimmick."
In addition to the November club shows, FOB will also perform at a number of radio-sponsored concerts in December, including a sold out December 6 show at Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO. Public onsales for the other December shows begin November 7-8.
