Grammy winners Toto pack it in
Rock band Toto has officially called it quits after 31 years.
In a post on his website, guitarist Steve Lukather, the only original member left in the band, said, in part: "There is no more Toto. I told the guys before the last leg of our tour. This is not a break. It is over. I really can't go out and play 'Hold the Line' with a straight face anymore. I was 19 when we cut the record. I just can't do it anymore and at 50 years old, I wanted to start over and give it one last try on my own."
Lukather has launched his own solo tour, called the "No Jazz Tour," which is currently in Europe and will be coming to the U.S. and Japan in the near future.
The Grammy award-wining Toto was founded in 1976 by some of the most popular and experienced session musicians of their time. The band released its self-titled debut album in 1978 and enjoyed commercial success in the 1980s. Toto played what would be their last show ever on April 5, 2008, in Seoul, as a part of their Falling in Between Live tour 2006-2007. The tour was in support of their first album of new material since 1999.
