Jazz for Obama benefit boasts all-star lineup
The all-star Jazz for Obama: A Concert for America's Future will be staged on October 1 at the Kaufmann Concert Hall at the 92nd Street Y on the Upper East Side of New York, NY. The event is presented by Jazz for America's Future.
Billed performers are Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dianne Reeves, Roy Haynes, Brad Mehldau, Joe Lovano, Roy Hardgrove, Christine McBride, Stanley Jordan, Kurt Elling, Hank Jones, Charlie Hunter/Doug Wamble Duo, Bilal/Robert Glasper, Stefon Harris, Roberta Gambarini. Unannounced "very special guests" are also on the billing, which could feature some impromptu jam sessions in addition to the solo sets.
The face value for tickets is priced at $100 for general admission, $250 for VIP reserved seating and access to the post-concert reception, and $50 for student tickets (limited availability). All proceeds are to benefit the Obama for America presidential campaign.
An earlier Jazz for Obama event was held on August 13 at the Precinct Bar in Somerville, MA, featuring Barbadian alto saxophonist Elan Trotman and experimental jazz ensemble, Eric Hobauer and the Infrared Band.
