Led Zeppelin tour? Plant: no, fans: yes

By Bob Grossweiner & Jane Cohen

With rumors flowing on both sides of the pond about a Led Zeppelin tour, the latest word is a no go, according to vocalist Robert Plant. In a recent interview in the Sunday Mirror in London, Plant reportedly has turned down £100million (about $200 million) for a world tour. Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones--all original members of the supergroup-- were reportedly offered a guaranteed £100m each for a tour of North America and Europe after a million fans applied for tickets when Zeppelin performed during a recent tribute concert in London at the new 02.

According to the Mirror: "A band source said: 'Despite the enormous offer, the decision did not come down to money. They always said they would do the one-off show and then see how they felt. Jimmy had enjoyed the concert in December enough to want to tour. He argued they still had something to offer. He likes the idea of another chapter in the band - the grown-up tour. John sided with Jimmy. He loved making music with the others again. But Robert wanted to leave last year's concert as their legacy. They had proved they could still do it and that was enough. He has other commitments and is happier looking forward to those. Robert put the mockers on the tour.'"

None of this though has stopped internet bidders on the website First Dibz to wager where a Led Zepplen concert will take place.

Plant will be touring this summer with Alison Krauss from April 19-July 1 with a second American leg of the Raising Sand tour recently added. Of course, once the Plant-Krauss tour is completed, the offers will most definitely start pouring in again, and speculation will begin to mount.

200 million dollars each? The could bring that in with the release of the DVD recorded that night in December I would think an offer twice that could easily be made and still be room for profit. They are Led Zep.
Think about it.

Well first of all we all know they do not need the money however we all know that we want them to tour. In the coments made in the "Uncut" of May issue is that RP states that "if he (JP) has any electricity flowing through his nut." Frankly I have been a follower of both LZ and RP for many years and I really can't see this collaboration between RP and Kraus. I am 45 and....Not at all. I do not believe that JP has an arrogance issue.
