Madonna tour reschedules first Sticky & Sweet concert in Argentina
Madonna was forced to postpone the first of four concerts in Argentina on December 3 at River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires due to unforeseen technical difficulties. The AP reported that it was at the request of her production company since sound equipment had not arrived because of flight delays from Mexico City, Mexico, where she last performed for two nights, November 29-30.
Originally scheduled to perform December 3-4 and December 6-7, Madonna will now perform December 4-5 and December 7-8, thus avoiding any cancellations. December 3 was rescheduled for December 5, while the December 6 show was bumped to December 8. Her December 4 and December 7 shows remain the same. Tickets will be honored for the rescheduled concert dates.
On Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour, this was the first postponement in 48 concerts and was to be the kick-off show for a South American tour leg that includes four shows in Argentina, two in Chile and five in Brazil. The tour ends on December 21.
Tour producer Arthur Fogel recently announced that the North American tour leg grossed $91.5 million over a series of 28 concerts. After sales from the European, Mexican and South American dates are added, the total could hit an estimated $282 million.
On December 2, Madonna met with President Cristine Fernandez and a former guerrilla-held hostage at Argentina's presidential palace, where she filmed "Evita" 12 years ago.
