After slashing prices earlier this summer for thousands of personal seat licenses (PSLs), the New York Jets this week are releasing more tickets in an effort to fill their new shared stadium this season.

The single-game seats, about 2,000 of them, are in the upper decks and do not require a PSL to purchase. Unlike the stadium's other tenants, the New York Giants, the Jets did not require PSLs for about 27,000 seats in the new stadium, and the 2,000 newly available seats are out of that allotment.

According to the team, the 2,000 seats originally were sold out, but those purchasers then traded up to better seats. The tickets first will be available to current season ticket holders through Ticketmaster.com, and then to the general public starting tomorrow, September 1. Cost of the tickets for season ticket holders will range from $95 to $125 each per game, and from $105 to $135 for non-season ticket holders. The limit is eight tickets per game.

In published reports, Matt Higgins, executive vice president of business operations for the Jets, said the team has sold out 96 percent of its non-premium tickets for the upcoming season, and will avoid local television blackouts.

“We’re about 96 percent sold out. With certainty, I can say that we’ll be sold out by next week. We’re just about there," Higgins told the New York Daily News.

The team has not sold out of its premium tickets, however, which require PSLs.

Primarily due to the slow economy, both the Jets and Giants will start the new season in the new Meadowlands Stadium without having sold out all of their PSLs and/or premium tickets.
