Paul McCartney finalizes summer schedule with Tulsa concert
Paul McCartney might be hesitant to call his summer fling on the national concert circuit a "tour," but the former Beatle seems to be cozying up to the idea of a "jaunt." Whatever the terminology, McCartney has revealed a tenth date on his upcoming performance schedule.
The most recent addition of an August 17 show at the BOK Center in Tulsa, OK, will be the final U.S. update for the year, according to the legendary musician's official Web site. A 12-hour block has been carved out for ticket presales on July 13, and general onsales for the Tulsa show open on July 20.
The August 17 concert is part of the BOK Center's one-year anniversary celebration. The event is also the only arena date for McCartney's stadium-centered tour and marks the musician's first Oklahoma concert in about seven years.
McCartney's summer series kicks off tomorrow, July 11, at Halifax Commons in Halifax, NS, before swinging down to the States for a nine-show run that wraps August 19 at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX. The complete concert itinerary is listed below.
The Dallas-area date was revealed earlier this week and follows the same presale and public onsale schedule as the Tulsa concert.
The setlist for McCartney's upcoming shows will feature hits from all decades of his career -- from his time with The Beatles and Wings to his more recent solo work, including tunes from the November 2008 album "Electric Arguments," released under the alias The Fireman.
According to published reports, McCartney was hesitant to call his small-scale summer plans a "tour," since he would not be making complete rounds of the U.S. and Canada. The acclaimed musician reportedly wanted to minimize his time on the road so he could remain close to family and one of his residences in the U.S.
