Shakira tour adds more U.S. concerts to fall 2010 calendar
Since the mid-May announcement of her 2010 tour plans, Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira has steadily increased the length of the accompanying itinerary.
The newest addition to the North American itinerary is a September 28 show at Amway Arena in Orlando, FL. The Latin musician also recently added performances on October 16 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV, and October 19 at Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA, among other dates.
The updated fall routing will hit 20 markets across the United States, beginning in Connecticut in mid-September and concluding in Illinois at the end of October. But based on the current calendar, Shakira will be spending most of her time in Texas and California.
Lone Star State markets dominate the middle of the itinerary, with a solid seven dates booked from October 1 at American Airlines Center in Dallas through October 13 at the Haskins Center in El Paso. From there, Shakira's tour busses head further west for five concerts in California, including the recently announced October 19 gig at Arco Arena in Sacramento.
Tickets are currently available for most dates on the fall tour. Initial presales begin in Orlando today, June 14, and public onsales follow in that Floridian market later in the week on June 18.
Face values range up to $150, according to Ticketmaster.com, but most markets are offering a limited number of tickets starting at $9.50. The lowest price tier was marked at $6.50 in El Paso, while it was set at $7 and $7.50 in Sacramento and San Antonio, respectively.
Shakira's tour supports her fall 2009 release, "She Wolf," which peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200. Right now, though, the singer is at the forefront of world music thanks to her tune, "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)," which has been named the official anthem of FIFA World Cup 2010.
