The Dead tour announces more concerts, ticket presales
Jam titans The Dead are proving to be alive and well this year. Composed of the remaining original members of The Grateful Dead, the band announced the addition of three new dates for its much-anticipated Spring Fling tour.
Second shows have been added in Chicago, IL, and in Mountain View, CA. The visit to Chicago's All State Arena will start a day earlier than previously announced for a May 4-5 run. An extended stay is set for the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View as The Dead follow their original May 10 performance with another show on May 14.
A new tour stop has also been added to the end of the tour, when the crew will swing through Quincy, WA, for a May 16 concert at The Gorge. That show is now the final stop for the 22-date U.S. outing.
A pre-sale for all three shows kicks off February 17 at 12 p.m. (EST). The Dead's previously announced concert stops are already on sale.
The group will reprise the lineup from its fall 2008 benefit concert for President Obama with the "Core Four" original members leading the way: Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart. Guitarist Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule) and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti (RatDog) will round out the lineup.
