Tom Waits's "Glitter and Doom"
Eccentric singer, songwriter, actor Tom Waits used his website on May 5 to announce his Glitter and Doom summer tour, which will primarily hit southern markets. The limited 13-date, 12-city theater tour kicks off June 17 in Phoenix, AZ and wraps July 5 in Atlanta, GA.
The announcement was made during a quirky streaming video via YouTube that was supposed to be highlights from a press conference, but actually revealed Waits to be talking to room of empty chairs, fielding pre-recorded questions broadcast by a record player.
The reclusive Waits, a two-time Grammy Award winner, appears to be spacing his tours every two years. Waits last toured in 2006 and before that in 2004. His last tour was limited to only eight shows, primarily in the Midwest.
