The Global Poverty Project makes Eventbrite exclusive ticketing partner

By Kristina LaFountain

This year has been one of growth for Eventbrite, which continues to expand their ticketing industry reach with the announcement of yet another partnership. The popular self-service ticketing platform has partnered with the Australian-grown Global Poverty Project as the exclusive ticketing partner of the Global Festival, a free, ticketed concert held in New York City's Central Park on September 29.

Supported by Sumner M. Redstone and the Pratt Foundation, the Global Poverty Project and its festival were created to spark a movement aimed at ending poverty in our generation. Headliners for the show include Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, Band of Horses and K'Naan. According to a press release announcing the event, more live acts and celebrity ambassadors will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Tickets for the concert are only available to those who support the cause and complete all requirements via the Global Citizen, an online platform created by the Global Poverty Project. Through the platform supporters can browse articles and videos with information about individual campaign issues or choose a petition sign — by completing these tasks users will then become eligible for tickets to the September concert.

Much like their charity partner, Eventbrite places emphasis on using innovative technology to reach their audience. The charity chose Eventbrite as their ticketing partner based on their innovative social media integration. In a recent press release, Hugh Evans, CEO of the Global Poverty Project said, "Eventbrite offers an impressive ticketing platform that enables individuals to share their excitement about Global Festival and the mission of the Global Poverty Project both before and after their receive a ticket. Because supporters can activate their personal networks in this way, they can easily encourage and inspire others to get involved."

The Vans Warped Tour recently used Eventbrite's entry-management tools and the Robin Hood Foundation utilized their service for a 2011 Central Park concert featuring the Black Eyed Peas — Eventbrite senior public relations manager, Vanessa Hope Schneider told TicketNews via email that the Global Festival will use the same resources for their event including a field operations team and entry-management tools to ensure that their event will run smoothly.

The 60,000 free tickets for the Global Festival will be distributed in late August. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available for purchase with net proceeds benefitting the charity.
In 2012 Eventbrite has proven their continued success in the ticketing industry. The company reached $1 billion in ticket sales due to the success of the event organizers who use their platform to reach consumers.

The company recently created Eventbrite for Causes, which gathers resources for nonprofit event organizers and gives a reduced rate for 501(c)(3) organizations. According to Schneider, the partnership with the Global Poverty Project is a logical step, because focusing on events that raise money and awareness for philanthropic causes has long been a part of Eventbrite's philosophy.

The platform also expanded to include a partnership with a different type of live event organizer. TicketNews recently discussed Eventbrite's partnership with Disco Donnie Presents, an entertainment brand that produces over 1,000 electronic dance music events each year including club events, arena shows and outdoor festivals.

Eventbrite provides event organizers with the tools they need to plan, promote, and sell out any type and size event. The platform was built around the idea that live events encourage people to gather around a passion and thus Eventbrite makes it easy to discover and share events via social media.
