UPDATE – Monday, June 20, 5:00 p.m. (EDT):
The itinerary below for Paul McCartney’s On the Run Tour has been updated to include newly announced second-nights in Montreal (on July 27) and Chicago (August 1). With these additions, his confirmed concerts now tally 8 total.

ORIGINAL REPORT:
Sir Paul McCartney is upping the ante on this summer’s On the Run Tour of North America. The legendary musician is slowly unveiling details for the venture, which begins with a July 15-16 stand at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, NY.

From there, the former Beatle bassist’s On the Run Tour will play July 24 at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI; July 31 at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL; and August 4 at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, OH.

McCartney’s official Web site confirmed these dates earlier in the week, but a sixth event (in Canada) was announced directly by its promoter. The musician will stop north of the border on July 26 at Bell Centre in Montreal, QC, according to evenko.ca.

Another Web site, Songkick.com, preempted McCartney’s own tour announcements by posting the dates, cities and venues days before he did. Now the site is listing a second night at Wrigley on August 1, as well as a September 1 show at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN. Though heavily speculated in published reports, neither date has yet been confirmed by McCartney’s camp.

Tickets to both Yankee Stadium dates went on sale June 13.

Public onsale dates are fast approaching for the other confirmed concerts. Tickets to the appearances at Comerica Park and Great American Ball Park will be available to the public for $39.50 to $250 on Tickets.com starting June 17. Bell Centre and Wrigley Field sales follow on June 20, though prices are not yet available.

Macca previously played a series of U.S. and Canadian concerts in both 2009 and 2010.

The Summer Live 2009 Tour featured performances in seven cities, including a three-date run at Citi Field in New York, NY. That trio of June dates marked the first concerts at Citi Field since its opening earlier in March 2009.

The following year, McCartney visit more than a dozen additional U.S. and Canadian markets on the 2010 Up and Coming Tour. That venture opened with a brief spring tour leg, and then expanded into a lengthier summer tour.

According to announcements from the artist’s camp, Macca’s regular touring band will accompany him: guitarists Rusty Anderson and Brian Ray, drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., and keyboardist Paul “Wix” Wickens. As with his 2009-2010 tour, these concerts are expected to run about three hours and feature songs from throughout the musician’s lengthy and varied career.
