Pop-rock star Pink announced her upcoming tour in 2013, The Truth About Love. It will kick off on February 13 in Phoenix, AZ and wrap up on March 28 at TD Garden in Boston. Altogether The Truth About Love tour will have a total of 25 shows in a six week span.
Next year’s tour will be supporting her most recently released album, also titled The Truth About Love. The album was released on September 18 with RCA Records. The album saw immediate success debuting at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This marks the first number one album for the singer, according to Entertainment Weekly. Entertainment Weekly further states that that her album has already sold 280,000 albums in the U.S. alone. The album also saw success in the UK debuting in second place on the UK chart behind The Killers newest album “Battle Born.”
The lead single off of The Truth About Love, “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” has reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after being released for 12 weeks. To promote the album, she has appeared on both the NBC Today show as well as performing on MTV’s Video Music Awards.
Pink burst onto the scene in 2000 with the release of her debut album Can’t Take Me Home. The album would go on to sell 3 million records, according to People. Can’t Take Me Home included her first songs to reach the top-ten, “You Make Me Sick,” “There You Go,” and “Most Girls.” Since then, she has released an additional four albums — Missundaztood (2001), Try This (2003), I’m Not Dead (2006), and Funhouse (2008). Funhouse was release in October of 2008 and reached number 2 on the Billboard 200 charts, People states.
In 2001, Pink won her first Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals, for her part in the remake of the song “Lady Marmalade,” also featuring Christina Aguilera, Mya, and Lil Kim.
In an interview with TicketNews, David English, the Operations Manager of Universal Events expressed uncertainty on ticket sales for the upcoming Pink tour because “traditionally, she has played at smaller venues,” and lengthier tours. However, The Truth About Love tour is scheduled to make stops at significantly larger venues. If the album sales are any indication, Pink should have no problem filling arenas with fans, which haven’t had a chance to see her perform live since her 2009 Funhouse tour.
The Truth About Love tour is scheduled to stop at major arenas across the U.S. and Canada including the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, CA on February 16; the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN on March 2; the United Center in Chicago, IL on March 9; and the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario on March 11. Currently there has not been any word on an opening act for the show.
Tickets for select dates for Pink’s tour were released on Friday, September 28, with eleven more scheduled to go on sale to the general public Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 2.
