Last fall, the Pixies set out to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Doolittle” by playing the seminal album in its entirety on a brief U.S. tour. The Boston-based rock crew will redouble that effort later this year with a fresh 11-date trek.

The new leg of the “Doolittle” tour restarts September 7 at Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA, and concludes September 26 at RIMAC Arena in La Jolla, CA. Along the way, shows are booked for September 13 at Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA, and September 22 at Austin Music Hall in Austin, TX, among other dates.

Public onsales for the Pixies’ “Doolittle” concerts begin June 14 in most markets; Nashville ticket sales open June 19. Beginning June 9, the band will also offer a limited number of presales tickets in tandem with the official launch of its first official Web site, PixiesMusic.com.

With setlists drawn from “Doolittle’s” songs and B-sides, the Pixies launched their tour in Europe early in fall 2009. After a successful run that spanned UK and mainland markets, the rockers returned stateside.

The nine-city U.S. tour was originally booked for 14 shows but expanded to 22 concert dates after fan demand led to multiple sold-out shows. In full, the Pixies have played nearly 40 sold-out “Doolittle” shows, according to a press statement from the band.

As usual, all original Pixies members are participating in the tour — frontman Black Francis, bassist Kim Deal, guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer David Lovering. While the Pixies have not released any new studio albums since 1991’s “Trompe le Monde,” Francis released his latest solo effort “Non Stop Erotik” in late March of this year.
