Adele is a British vocalist who has risen in popularity, both in her native UK and internationally, since the release of her debut record "19." The album was released in January 2008 in the UK, where it instantly topped album sales charts. Adele's North American release followed in June that year to lukewarm reception. However, national interest in the young soul singer skyrocketed when she appeared as a musical guest on a fateful episode of skit television show "Saturday Night Live," which also featured a much-hyped guest appearance by then-Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
Adele made her debut on the U.S./Canada tour circuit in early summer 2008, but cancelled a planned September 2008 tour due to "problems at home." The British chantreuse returned early in 2009 for a round of winter dates, followed by another block of shows in spring. Her tours of the U.S. and Canada have primarily been booked for medium-sized clubs and theaters.

Adele reschedules U.S. concerts, adds new tour dates
Just nine dates into her summer tour of North America, Adele was forced off the road by a bout of laryngitis. Now with her voice on the mend, the British singer-songwriter has rescheduled the 14 affected shows and added six new dates to boot.
Adele will attack her backlog of U.S. dates in two separate 10-city sprints. The first leg, in August, will run down the West Coast and will be comprised of mostly make-up dates. The second leg lands this October on the East Coast and in the South, and features the majority of the tour's newer concerts.
Adele collects charity contributions at North American shows
Those attending any of UK soul artist Adele's concerts as a guest on her current North American tour will not have a completely free ride: all guests at any of her upcoming concerts will be asked to provide a charity donation of $20 at the event.
The news came through late last week in an e-mail from tour promoter Live Nation to members of its subscription VIP ticketing program, Concert Club.

Returning after a four-year hiatus, the VH1 show will raise funds for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education in American public schools.
Adele tour announces U.S. dates for spring 2009
Rising music star Adele has four Grammy nominations to her name and a largely sold-out winter tour. Now the British songstress has unveiled plans for a spring 2009 tour of the U.S., outlining a March 9 opening at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA, and a May 5 close-out at Roseland Ballroom in New York, NY.
Only 10 dates have been announced for the spring trek, but highlights include a March 14 concert at Warehouse in Houston, TX, a March 17 performance at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA, and a March 18 gig at The Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN. Presales begin today, December 18, at 10 a.m. EST.
Adele tour plots '19' dates across the U.S. in 2009
After cancelling an earlier scheduled U.S. run, British songstress Adele has announced renewed plans to tour the States in 2009. The trek is slated to begin January 14 at Somerville Theater in Somerville, MA, and wraps January 30 at The Avalon in Los Angeles, CA.
The 11-date jaunt focuses primarily on the East and West Coasts, with a few shows booked for the interior states, like a January 19 gig at Park West in Chicago, IL, and a January 22 concert at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO. Other highlights include a January 17 performance at 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, and a January 27 gig at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland, OR.
Adele, Liza Minnelli tickets on sale this weekend

Adele mounts headlining tour
The critically acclaimed UK soul singer Adele will return to this side of the Atlantic for a series of North American concerts in May and June in support of the stateside release of "19." The album was her #1 UK chart-topping debut that will be available in digital and traditional CD formats on June 10. It has been certified platinum in the UK and has charted Top 10 or better on the Irish Album Chart (#3), the Dutch Album Chart (#4), Billboard's European Top Albums Chart (#6) and the United World Chart (#8).
Adele's upcoming concert itinerary marks the artist's most extensive North American tour to-date, constituting her first round of stateside performances since a highly-successful sold-out four-city tour of New York, Los Angles, Montreal, and Toronto in March. Currently on an SRO tour of Europe, Adele will follow her North American concert dates with another run of European shows including a performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
