B. B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City is doing its part to help ease the pain of unemployment by offering those receiving unemployment checks a 50 percent discount on select shows in February. The half-price promotion has a maximum of 50 tickets per show.
The shows in the promotion include The Cannabis Cup Reggae Band for the Bob Marley Birthday Bash (February 6 — $11), Maxi Priest (February 8 — $14), Broadway Underground (February 16 — $13), Ralph Stanley (February 18 — $15), Angie Stone (February 19 — $15) and Blackstreet (February 20 — $18).
To qualify for the discounted tickets, club goers must show a copy of their latest unemployment check plus a photo ID at the box office. If the check has already been cashed, deposited or direct deposited, proof must be shown that the check was received.
Legendary blues musician B. B. King has no affiliation with the club, which has licensed his name for the venue.
