Black Crowes


Voted the "Best New American Band" in 1990 according to "Rolling Stone," The Black Crowes are a rock and roll band originating from Atlanta, GA. Getting their start in 1989, the band remained active until 2002, at which point they took a brief hiatus before returning in 2005. Since 1990, the band has produced 12 albums, toured 17 times, and sold more than 20 million albums. Their most recent tour, "Stuck Inside Utopia Tour," took place in 2009. The band was also listed at #92 on the "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" list, according to "VH1."

Recently The Black Crowes' Web site revealed that the band had recorded a new album, though a release date was not provided. Their most recent album, the band's eighth, was "Before the Frost," which was released in August of 2009.

The Black Crowes tour to follow 'Goodnight' concerts with indefinite hiatus

This year marks the 20th anniversary of "Shake Your Money Maker," the commercial hit and debut effort by The Black Crowes. But the veteran band's celebration of that milestone will be bittersweet.

Co-founded by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, the Crowes plan to begin an indefinite hiatus after releasing a new album this summer and completing a four-month tour. After filling the next few months with scattered festival gigs and one-offs, the Crowes will officially launch their pre-hiatus tour on August 13 at Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee, WI.

The Black Crowes tour to stay 'Stuck Inside Utopia' through late 2009

The Black Crowes have doubled the amount of time they'll spend on the road later this year with the announcement of a 29-date extension for the upcoming Stuck Inside Utopia Tour.

The second tour leg picks up October 4 at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC, and closes with an October 22 performance at the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix, AZ. The third leg begins November 5 at Orbit Room in Grand Rapids, MI, and ends with five shows on December 1-2 and 4-6 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA.

The Black Crowes tour gets 'Stuck Inside Utopia' in 2009

Hard rock veterans The Black Crowes have announced the first leg of dates for their Stuck Inside Utopia Tour. The first block of the band's jaunt will focus on East Coast markets, and includes nearly 30 dates in both the U.S. and Canada.

The trek kicks off August 25 at the Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA, and is currently booked through October 3 at Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA. The Crowes will also touch down for gigs on August 27 at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, MA; September 2 at Central Park Summerstage in New York, NY; September 17 at Higher Ground in Burlington, VT; and September 26 at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, among other dates.

Iconic singer-songwriter Bob Dylan has announced plans for his latest Ballpark Tour. With support from Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp, the so-called Bob Dylan Show will hit minor league ballparks across the United States this summer. Twenty-two shows are booked, all of which are general admission. But this jaunt isn't just for longtime Dylan fans; it's also a family affair. Children 14 years old and under get in free when they come with a ticketholding adult.

Widespread Panic, Black Crowes to headline Forecastle Festival

Widespread Panic, The Black Crowes, The Black Keys and The Avett Brothers are the featured performers at the eighth annual Forecastle Festival, held July 10-12 at the Riverfront Belvedere in Louisville, KY. Widespread Panic will perform for two of the three nights, one of only three festival appearances this summer.

Nederlander Entertainment produces the annual music, art and activism festival. More than 65 additional bands and DJs are yet to be announced for the 2009 event lineup.

The long-anticipated lineup for Bonnaroo 2009 has been unveiled with Bruce Springsteen, Phish, the Beastie Boys and Nine Inch Nails leading the way as headliners. Dozens of additional performers for the June 11-14 event have been confirmed, with more to come. A total of 120 bands and over 20 comedians will be featured at this year's festival.

Black Crowes tour cancelled Las Vegas, Santa Cruz shows

The Black Crowes, on tour in support of their March 2008 release, "Warpaint," have cancelled a pair of weekend shows: September 13 at The Joint in Las Vegas, NV, and September 14 at the Civic Auditorium in Santa Cruz, CA.

According to a post on the band's Web site, the concert cancellations are due to an unexpected illness within the band.

The Black Crowes tour scares up Halloween shows with Patti Smith

After a few late August festival performances, the Black Crowes' Euphoria or Bust Tour is continuing its flight across North America with two special concerts recently added to the books. The next leg of the tour begins September 3 in Victoria, BC, and wraps with five shows at the Fillmore in San Francisco, CA: December 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20.

The Crowes recently added a pair of Halloween performances to the itinerary for October 30-31 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, with special guest Patti Smith and Her Band. The Halloween shows will end the Crowes' four-night run at the Hammerstein, which begins with October 27-28 shows.

Beck, Black Crowes headline Calif. Festival

Headliners Beck and The Black Crowes are among the 35 bands performing on four stages at the 24th annual Street Scene 2008 in downtown San Diego, CA, to be held September 19-20. It is one of California's longest running music festivals.

Also on the bill are: Justice, STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9), Michael Franti & Spearhead, The National, Spoon, TV on The Radio, Atmosphere, Cat Power, Hot Chip, Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers, X, Vampire Weekend, The Hives, Cold War Kids, Ghostland Observatory, Spiritualized, Antibalas, Man Man, The Mother Hips, Tokyo Police Club, DeVotchKa, The Night Marchers, Nortec Collective presents Bostich + Fussible, Does it Offend You, Yeah?, Del The Funky Homosapien, Eagles of Death Metal, Foals, The Muslims, Dengue Fever, MGMT, Sea Wolf, West Indian Girl and Chester French.

Buffett, Black Crowes at Newport Folk Fest

Jimmy Buffett, The Black Crowes, Cat Power, Levon Helm, Jakob Dylan, and Gillian Welch are among the initial artists confirmed to perform at the 2008 Newport Folk Festival, Aug. 1-3, in Newport, RI.

Festival festivities begin Friday night with a concert at the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino with soon-to-be-named entertainment. The music will continue at Fort Adams State Park for two full days of music on three stages, Aug. 2-3. A partial lineup of artists has been announced with more to follow (see below).
