Bloc Party is an English indie rock band that has experienced growing influence in the United States since releasing its 2005 debut "Silent Alarm." The group's third and most recent album, "Intimacy," hit No. 18 on the Billboard 200, a notable improvement over their debut's peak position at No. 114. While the quartet has toured regularly in support of its studio albums, most concerts have been booked in Europe and other international locations. When the group does come to North American shores, it is usually booked into medium-large clubs and theaters in major cities, where tickets usually sell quickly.
Bloc Party tour brings 'Intimacy' back to North America this spring
Rising art-rock group Bloc Party will be getting up-close and personal with fans across North America this spring. The band has announced dates for a 17-city tour promoting last year's record "Intimacy."
The spring 2009 outing will pick up with a March 13-14 two-night stand at Kool Haus in Toronto, ON, and conclude May 3 at Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg, MB. Bloc Party will make only eight forays into the States during the predominately Canadian trek, including a March 19 concert at the new House of Blues in Boston, MA, a pair of shows on March 24-25 at Terminal 5 in New York, NY, and a March 31 set at The Pageant in St. Louis, MO.
Bloc Party tour blocks out more international dates, five U.S. gigs
International indie darlings Bloc Party will be busy over the next few months as they continue to support their latest release with an extended world tour. The British rockers begin the jaunt with a few dates in Brazil before continuing on to Australia, the U.S., the UK and Germany.
The party continues tomorrow (November 8) with a concert at the Terra Festival in São Paulo, Brazil, and wraps for the year on December 16 at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA. Bloc Party revs up again in 2009 with a series of two-night stands in the UK, including the opening January 25-26 sets at the Academy in Glasgow, Scotland, and the tour-closing March 11-12 gigs at Olympia in London, England.
