Blues singer-songwriter Bonnie Raitt had to cancel the first leg of her U.S. tour with James Taylor this month after an unspecified “medical situation” arose, which requires surgery.

Her tour with Taylor was set to begin on May 8 in Jacksonville, Florida, and run through July 4 in Lexon, Massachusetts before heading to the UK.

Raitt’s team posted a statement on Facebook on Monday, apologizing to her fans. The post explained that she found out about the medical issue after her annual physical appointment, and although details of the medical issue weren’t shared, the prognosis is stated as “good,” and a full recovery is expected.

“I’m deeply sorry to have to disappoint my fans, James and colleagues with these cancellations,” Raitt said in the post. “I was so looking forward to our tour, but I’m very grateful that the doctors feel this can be taken care of with surgery. I’m feeling strong and am in great hands with my wonderful team.”

She is expected to join Taylor during the tour’s second leg this summer, set to take place in June, along with a European tour in July. Raitt will pick up the tour on June 22 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She thanked fans for their concern and at this time, wants to keep the details private to have “space to heal.”

“This summer was to be Bonnie’s and my second summer touring together,” Taylor said in a statement. “We wanted to do it again because it was such good fun the first time, we didn’t want it to end. We are so looking forward to having her rejoin the tour in mid-June. Of course, there is no question as to the priority of your health, Bonnie. You will be constantly in our hearts and minds until we see you in June.”

During the first leg of the tour, Taylor’s shows are now dubbed as an “Evening with James Taylor & His All-Star Band,” with two sets and a brief intermission, according to a post on Taylor’s Facebook page. Additionally, he will be joined by special guest Sheryl Crow on May 29 in Pheonix, Arizona and two nights at the Hollywood Bowl on May 31 and June 1.

Raitt, now 68-years-old, is best-known for her hit songs “Something To Talk About” and “I’m In The Mood.” Her latest record, Dig In Deep, was released in 2016. She is also a Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame inductee since 2000. Taylor’s most recent work, Before This World, features singles “Montana,” “Today Today Today,” and “SnowTime.” Earlier this year, he was featured on Charlie Puth’s track “Change.”
