Nateva Festival prepares for inaugural event with Flaming Lips, Derek Trucks
In a year marked by the unexpected shuttering of several national festivals, another summer event has risen to fill the void just as unexpectedly.
Though early details about the Nateva Music & Camping Festival surfaced with little prior warning near the end of January, the three-day event already promises a bevy of big name acts for its inaugural lineup. While an official announcement is still forthcoming, Nateva has confirmed performances by festival favorite the Flaming Lips, as well as the Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Band.
Flaming Lips tour offers 'Embryonic' preview with online ticket purchases
The summer concert season just got psychedelic with the announcement of a brief Flaming Lips tour this August. The 10-city trek kicks off August 15 at Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, CA, and ends August 30 at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, MA.
The experimental rock group will hit both coasts on the two-week tour. Highlights include an August 17 concert at Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, an August 23 performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, and an August 28 gig at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD.
Flaming Lips to curate second All Tomorrow's Parties New York
Alt-rockers the Flaming Lips have been selected as the Sunday curator for the second All Tomorrow's Parties (ATP) New York festival to be held once again at Kutsher's Country Club in Monticello, NY, on September 11-13, 2009. The Lips, who are also performing at the event, will choose 15 other acts to perform on Sunday, September 13.
Confirmed artists for September 11 include Suicide (performing their first LP), Dirty Three (performing "Ocean Songs") and comedian David Cross. The September 12 line-up, curated by ATP, includes Animal Collective, Anti-Pop Consortium, Atlas Sound, Panda Bear, Autolux, and Black Dice. More acts will be announced in the coming months.
Flaming Lips Touring Soon, May Diversify Into Theater

The Flaming Lips are scheduled to perform a string of US dates in April that will take them along the East Coast, from Florida to New England. The psychedelic outfit will be strangely rolling into a town near you sometime very soon and its’ time to think about where your tickets are going to come from.
The tour kicks off April 11 in Athens, GA, progressing to Florida, the Carolinas, Virginia and Rhode Island on April 21. Stardeath and White Dwarfs will support the Lips on all dates, which appear below.
The Flaming Lips Announce Mini Spring Tour
The Flaming Lips, long considered one of the more creative bands when it comes to live performing, this week announced a spring mini tour in Florida and other Southeastern locations, according to Suicidegirls.com.
Frontman Wayne Coyne and company are coming off two Grammy wins in technical categories for their latest album “At War with the Mystics.” The seven dates are mostly smaller venues where the band’s antics can be appreciated up close.
