Green Day musical 'American Idiot' storms Broadway with strong opening
Punk music has blasted its way onto Broadway in the form of "American Idiot," the Green Day-driven rock opera that opened at St. James Theatre on April 20.
Unsurprisingly, primary musical and lyrical credits for the production go to Green Day and band frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, with Tom Kitt overseeing music arrangements and Director Michael Mayer offering support on the book. "American Idiot" is based on the Green Day album of the same name, with additional songs from Green Day's newer catalogue thrown into the mix for good measure.
Green Day tour ready to 'Breakdown' with summer 2010 concerts
Green Day won't restrict its summer amphitheater tour to European sheds. The iconic punk band recently announced that the upcoming season's itinerary features at least a month of dates in North American markets, supported by fellow alt-rockers AFI.
The summer trek will hit amphitheaters across the United States and Canada at summer's end, running from August 3 at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, through September 2 at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, CA.
Green Day musical 'American Idiot' to begin Broadway previews in March
The Great White Way will get a heavy infusion of punk rock this year as Green Day brings the musical version of its album "American Idiot" to St. James Theatre in New York City. Producers Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman announced the show's Broadway debut earlier this week.
Previews for the stage musical will begin March 24, with opening night booked a month later on April 20. A performance schedule and ticketing information for the open-ended production have not yet been announced. However, fans can sign up for e-mail announcements on the official 'American Idiot' On Broadway site.

Green Day tickets carry sale restrictions at North American concert venues

A number of venues are listing "Forced Will Call" notices, as well as other restrictions, on Ticketmaster event pages for the popular punk rock trio.
One of the affected shows is July 16 at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, ON. The forced Will Call pick-up was initiated by Green Day, according to Alipa Patel, marketing and communications manager for Copps Coliseum.
