Il Divo is an operatic pop quartet, comprised of international vocalists and created by Simon Cowell, best known for his role as a judge on reality music shows such as American Idol and Britain's Got Talent. The operatic pop band Il Divo is gearing up for its world tour in support of its fifth album "The Promise" with a performance at the Inaugural Purple Ball honoring President Barack Obama on January 20 in Washington, DC.
The 2009 An Evening with Il Divo tour kicks off February 21 in Manchester, ENG, and has already sold out 75 percent in Europe, including multiple nights in Dublin, IRE; London, ENG; Manchester, ENG; and Rotterdam, NET. The tour then heads to North America, Australia and Asia.
Il Divo, Peter Cincotti to perform at Inaugural Purple Ball
Operatic pop group Il Divo and singer/songwriter/pianist Peter Cincotti will perform at the exclusive and formal Inaugural Purple Ball on January 20 at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, DC, in celebration of President-Elect Barack Obama's historic inauguration. Tickets are priced at $500; $1,000; $2,000; and $5,000.
A host committee headed by Oscar winner Louis Gossett, Jr. (co-chair) and Asal Masomi (co-chair), includes fellow actors Patricia Arquette, Amy Brenneman, Ed Harris, Ashley Judd, Josh Lucas, Amy Madigan, Brad Silberling and Kate Walsh. A portion of the proceeds from the Inaugural Purple Ball will benefit the Eracism Foundation, founded by Gossett in 2006, to address the negative impacts of racism.
Il Divo tour announces initial dates for North America in spring 2009
Classical singing group Il Divo has officially announced dates for its 2009 world tour, which features a spring jaunt across Canada and the United States. Currently set at 19-dates, the outing begins in Canada on April 28 at the Metro Centre in Halifax, NS, and similarly ends north of the border on May 31 at the Save-On-Foods Centre in Victoria, BC.
Only six U.S. dates have been confirmed so far, starting with a May 8 performance at the Patriot Center in Washington, DC (Fairfax, VA), and ending with a May 19 concert at the Roseland Theatre in Chicago, IL. Mostly focused on the Northeast region of the States, the run includes a May 14 stop at Agganis Arena in Boston, MA.
Taylor Swift, Il Divo tickets on sale this weekend
Tickets for an upcoming tour stop by Taylor Swift, as well as tickets for upcoming concerts from Il Divo, are on sale throughout the week ending December 1, as compiled by TicketNews.
On sale today are several chances to catch alternative rockers Fall Out Boy in concert. First, the band has tickets on sale for their return home to Chicago, a concert to be held at the Chicago Theatre. Fans of the band can also catch them and the newly reunited No Doubt at the Bamboozle Festival to be held at Giants Stadium in New Jersey next May. Tickets for the three day festival went on sale this morning.
Il Divo inks touring, merchandise deal with Live Nation
Il Divo, the operatic pop group created by American Idol's Simon Cowell, has inked a global touring and merchandising deal with Live Nation that begins in the UK in February 2009.
In addition to promoting the group's concert dates, Live Nation will also have exclusive rights to the group's merchandise, fan club, VIP packages and tour sponsorships. Financial terms were not disclosed.
