Jason Mraz, born in Mechanicsville, Virginia in 1977, is an American singer-songwriter whose style involves a combination of reggae, pop, rock, folk, jazz, and hip hop. His debut album “Waiting for My Rocket to Come” was released in 2002, but did not make him a commercial success. His second album “Mr. A-Z” (2005) was what launched him to fame, selling over one hundred thousand copies in the U.S. and reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 200. His third album, “We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things..” (2008) was an even larger success, debuting at number three on the Billboard 200 and seeing international success as well.
Although his first album wasn’t a huge success, his single “The Remedy (I Won’t Worry)” ranked in the top twenty on the Billboard Hot 100. Mraz’s big single “I’m Yours”, from his third album, peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100, sold over three million copies, and received a triple-Platinum certification from the RIAA. The song was also nominated at the 2009 Grammy Awards for both Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. His second single off that album “Lucky”, featuring Colbie Caillat, was also somewhat of a success, peaking at number 48 on the Hot 100.
