Jay-Z is an American rapper and CEO for the Def Jam record label. He debuted in 1996 with "Reasonable Doubt," quickly gaining momentum on the mainstream charts. From 1998 to 2007, he produced eight records, all of which topped the Billboard 200.
In recent years, he has decreased the regularity of his recording and performing in favor of producing and entrepreneurial pursuits. However, Jay-Z signed a multi-million dollar deal with Live Nation worth about $150 million in 2008. The long-term contract reportedly spans 10 years and includes touring, ticketing, merchandise, sponsorship, recordings and more.

From early fall to the end of the year, Kanye West and Jay-Z have significantly shifted the timeframe and the routing of their upcoming Watch the Throne Tour.
Dubbing themselves The Throne, the collaborative kings of rap will set out a month later than planned with a revised 22-city routing across North America. The itinerary now opens October 29 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA, and concludes almost two months later with a December 18 concert at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC.
Kanye West, Jay-Z take 'The Throne' with upcoming tour
Rap royalty Kanye West and Jay-Z have teamed up to form a new group, called The Throne. The duo will showcase their workmanship with a new full-length album, "Watch the Throne," and a North American tour of the same name.
The 24-date Watch the Throne Tour kicks off September 22 at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, MI. West and Jay-Z will cross the country over the next month and a half before closing their venture November 3 at TD Garden in Boston, MA.
Jay-Z and Eminem joint concerts in Detroit and New York are this week's top events
TicketNews released its event rankings for the week ending June 27, and Jay-Z & Eminem make their first appearance in the overall top ten at number one. Eminem released his album "Recovery" this month and so far the album has sold over 600,000 copies, making it Eminem's sixth number-one debut. Jay-Z is still promoting his "Blueprint 3" album. The rap superstars will be performing in Jay-Z's hometown of NYC and then in Eminem's hometown of Detroit in September.

The leading men of hip-hop announced their plans during a May 12 baseball game at Comerica Park, which appropriately pitted the Tigers against the Yankees. "This is a once in a lifetime set of shows, and I know we're both really going to bring it to our hometowns," Eminem said in a statement.

With three months to go until the festival crowds begin to fill Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA, an official lineup has been announced for the three-day Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The 2010 event, taking place April 16-18, will feature headline performances by Jay-Z, Muse and Gorillaz. Those acts lead a billing of more than 130 recording acts that will canvas five main stages.
