“Jersey Boys”, a documentary-style musical that debuted on Broadway in 2005, is about the popular 1960’s rock ‘n roll group, the Four Seasons. The musical tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons’ rocky rise to fame, using many of the group’s hit songs throughout.
The musical opened at the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway on November 6, 2005, directed by Des McAnuff. Since then, “Jersey Boys” has gone on a North American tour, and expanded it’s productions to cities in the West End, Melbourne, and other various U.S. cities. Its success was proven by winning four 2006 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Actor (John Lloyd Young), Best Featured Actor (Christian Hoff), and Best Lighting Design. Besides Broadway, the musical is also currently having an outstanding run in Las Vegas at the Venetian Palazzo Theatre, and has just signed an official sponsorship deal with StubHub. In TicketNews, “Jersey Boys” continuously comes in near the top of the exclusive event rankings just behind Wicked.
StubHub inks official sponsorship deal with 'Jersey Boys'
StubHub is extending the scope of its event sponsorships beyond the usual sports and concerts to the realm of live theatre. The fan-to-fan ticket marketplace has cut a deal with producers to be the official resale site for North American productions of the hit musical "Jersey Boys."
As a part of the deal, StubHub will boost its promotion for "Jersey Boys" tickets on its site and Times Square storefront, while also paying a sponsorship fee to the production. In exchange, "Jersey Boys" will promote the resale site as a solution for fans who need tickets to sold-out shows.

Jersey Boys follows Wicked in the overall rankings with a 2.96 power score. Other highlights of the list include Britney Spears, who slipped in the overall rankings from number two to number four (2.47) ahead of Elton John & Billy Joel, who hold on to their number five spot with a 2.45 power score. Rounding out the top ten are two theater shows: the Lion King (number eight, 1.56) and the Phantom of the Opera (number ten, 1.48).
In the Top Theater Events rankings "Wicked," "Jersey Boys," "Lion King" and "Phantom of the Opera" have the edge, but South Pacific (number five, 5.21) and Cirque du Soleil: Wintuk (number six, 4.33) are also moving tickets. Dance-themed shows Billy Elliot (3.20) and "Dirty Dancing" (2.51) rank at numbers seven and eight. Mary Poppins debuts in the theater rankings at number nine with a 1.60 power score.
Ticket trouble: customer persistence pays off for 'Jersey Boys' tickets
A California woman who ordered two tickets to a Jersey Boys performance from an online broker late last year not only never received her tickets but has yet to receive a refund. But her persistence is a lesson in how fans should handle customer service lapses, as she told TicketNews this week.
Tracy Taylor of Ventura ordered two tickets to the popular show in November, 2007, from Chicago, IL-based ticket broker TicketSpecialists.com, paying a total of $544 for them. The purchase was a Christmas gift for her parents, and the costs broke down as $230 a piece for the tickets, $69 in obtaining fees and $15 in two-day delivery charges. The show was scheduled for August 5, 2008, at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, and the seats were located in the Mezzanine in Row L.
“Jersey Boys” starts Las Vegas run
This past weekend saw the Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas debut an extended run of the hit musical Jersey Boys, one of the biggest shows currently on Broadway and winner of four Tony Awards in 2006 including Best Musical. The production was brought to Vegas by Dodger Theatricals, the original Broadway producers. The cast playing the famous singing group are: Nick Faugno as Frankie Valli, Erich Bergen as Bob Gaudio, Jeremy Kushnier as Tommy DeVito and Jeff Leibow as Nick Massi. John Altieri and Ken Krugman round out the cast.
Press notes state that Jersey Boys is “the story of . . . a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide – all before they were 30.” The gala opening night is scheduled for May 3.
