Though an official name has not yet been determined, the New York Jets and Giants football teams are building a new $1.3 billion stadium next door to their current home in East Rutherford, NJ, which is scheduled to open for the 2010 season.
The new Meadowlands Stadium will seat 82,500, an increase of more than 2,000 seats from the current stadium, and it will feature changing colors and graphics depending on which team is playing that weekend.
Both teams are using controversial Personal Seat Licenses to help finance the facility, which has sparked complaints from fans over the high cost, and at least one lawsuit. In addition, the stadium's naming rights are expected to be among the most expensive in sports, and could generate more than $30 million annually.
