John Mayer tour cancelled due to throat injury

On March 9, John Mayer announced that he is being forced to cancel his upcoming 2012 Spring Tour in order to receive treatment for a returning granuloma, which is a growth that occurs in the throat and is exacerbated by the vocal cords making repeated contact.

Mayer was initially diagnosed with the condition last fall, with doctors placing him on extensive vocal rest at the time. This led to a nixed appearance at September 2011's iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas and another with Tony Bennett in Los Angeles.

John Mayer, Carrie Underwood tickets on sale this weekend

Tickets for upcoming concerts from John Mayer, as well as tickets for the upcoming tour from Carrie Underwood, are on sale throughout the weekend ending April 26 as compiled by TicketNews.

Starting off the weekend onsales are tickets to catch former American Idol champion Carrie Underwood on her upcoming North American tour. The country music superstar has multiple dates among the Saturday onsales, including shows in Dallas, Vancouver, Atlanta, Baltimore, and Toronto. Underwood also recently announced that a small portion of each ticket sold will be donated to charity. John Mayer tour goes completely paperless for summer 'Battle Studies' dates

After limited trials of paperless ticketing earlier this year, pop-rock musician John Mayer has elected to go entirely paperless for his upcoming Battle Studies Summer Tour.

Mayer first tested the paperless process in select markets on the first leg of the Battles Studies Tour. That trial focused on prime seating locations only, but his summer tour will take paperless ticketing to the next level when widespread onsales begin on April 17 and April 23-24.

Currently boasting the number one album in the country, Jay-Z’s BP3 tour will be stopping in a mix of large and smaller markets. Among the stops on sale throughout the weekend are the larger markets of Chicago and East Rutherford, NJ (IZOD Center), while the smaller markets include Sunrise, FL and Auburn Hills, MI. International superstars U2 have additional concert dates on their 360° Tour on sale throughout the weekend as well. Among the cities with stops are Montreal, Minneapolis, and East Lansing, MI at the Michigan State University Football Stadium.

John Mayer tour to use paperless ticketing for premium seats

Singer-guitarist John Mayer will use paperless tickets for premium seats for some shows on his upcoming arena tour, the popular songwriter announced this week in an email to fans who have signed up for his fan club.

Mayer is the latest artist to use the system, following the likes of Miley Cyrus and Bruce Springsteen, but how it will be received by fans is unknown. While some venues have reported no problems with the paperless system, many fans and ticket brokers have taken to the Internet to complain about the lack of transferability of paperless tickets, and the delays in entering arenas.

Twenty sold-out concerts were no problem for Garth Brooks, who begins his five-year residency at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas this December. But fighting ticket scalpers has turned into a major process for the performer and casino CEO Steve Wynn. John Mayer tour hits big screen

Two days before John Mayer heads out on his summer tour, which begins July 2 in Milwaukee, WI, fans can watch the five-time Grammy winner on the big screen when his "Where The Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles" hits theaters across the country. "Where The Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles" features Mayer performing an acoustic set, a full-band "Continuum" set and a rare John Mayer Trio set. The concert was recorded in December, 2007, at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles and directed by Danny Clinch.

"John Mayer’s gift for mixing genres and styles and for appealing to such a wide cross-section of fans will come to life on the big screen," Jonathan Dern, president of The Bigger Picture, a leader in the digital distribution of movies, said in a statement. "Everyone who comes out to see him in digital cinema will enjoy an incredible view and the best sound available."
