Dwayne Carter, Jr., best known as Lil Wayne, is a critically acclaimed and award winning American rapper. He debuted in 1999 with "The Block Is Hot" and has since released five additional studio records with plans for two more albums in 2009, as well as 10 official mixtapes. On tour, Lil Wayne regularly fills arenas and stadiums. However, he ran into legal problems early in 2009 when he cancelled a New York concert, which had already been rescheduled (and subsequently cancelled) twice. Lil Wayne has also faced various charges for drug and weapons charges, but regardless of his legal woes, remains one of the most popular and in-demand artists of his genre.
Lil Wayne tour 'still' going strong with summer concerts
In between court and jail stints, Lil Wayne has dominated the North American tour circuit the past few years. He plans to continue the streak with another leg of the I Am Still Music Tour.
The artist's 40-date summer calendar opens July 13 at the Comcast Theater in Hartford, CT. After visiting states and provinces from coast to coast, Weezy wraps his jaunt September 11 at the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX.
Lil Wayne tours with Nicki Minaj for I Am Music II concerts
Only four months after his release from jail, rapper Lil Wayne will take on North America once again for the I Am Music II Tour.
The 25-date itinerary canvasses almost two months, featuring coast-to-coast stops across the United States and a couple shows in Canada. The roadtrip starts March 18 at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, NY, and is presently scheduled to conclude with a May 1 performance at the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, NJ.

Wayne was the headliner in the tour package dubbed the Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival, along with hip-hoppers Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Tell 'Em and Drake.

As he awaits the long-delayed release of his latest studio album, Lil Wayne is busy prepping for a 22-city summer tour with a hefty entourage of rap's up-and-coming acts. The Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival will launch July 27 at Toyota Pavilion in Scranton, PA, and end August 23 at the Superpages.com Center in Dallas, TX.
During its coast-to-coast circuit, the traveling rap extravaganza will stop for performances on July 31 at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ; August 9 at the Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA; and August 22 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX. A venue has not yet been confirmed for the crew's August 13 concert in Los Angeles, CA.
