MGMT is a musical duo known for their electronica/pop-rock sound, which includes their EP "Time to Pretend" which was released in 2005, and their first full length album, "Oracular Spectacular." The album broadened MGMT's musical boundaries and hit # 1 on Billboard Top Heatseeker's chart, as well as the top 12 in the UK and the top 6 in Australia. It also was named the 18th best album of the decade by Rolling Stone magazine.
The band was nominated for Best New Artist, and the single "Kids" was nominated Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, for the 2010 Grammy's. MGMT also was on tour opening for Of Montreal for an extended period in 2007. The band has opened for multiple other artists, including Radiohead, M.I.A., and Paul McCartney and has been featured at many festivals, including SXSW Music Festival, Austin City Limits, Coachella Music Festival, as well as Lollapalooza and others.
MGMT tour plots 'Congratulations' concert dates to follow album release
Still riding high on the breakthrough success of 2007's "Oracular Spectacular," indie's electro-rock darling MGMT is prepped for the release of its next album and a corresponding spring-to-summer tour.
A sold-out April 12-13 stand at The Fillmore in San Francisco and an April 17 set at Coachella in Indio will propel MGMT into their nearly two-month tour spree across the United States and Canada. The tour launch coincides with the April 13 release of the band's third studio album, "Congratulations."

Iconic singer-songwriter Brian Wilson will continuing touring behind his new album, "That Lucky Old Sun." The 11-city November trek features the musician performing the new album in its entirety, plus fan favorites from his catalogue of solo work and Beach Boys material.
MGMT tour moves to larger venues in Australia
After the original venues sold out in less than three minutes, Brooklyn-based indie rock group MGMT’s forthcoming Australian shows in Sydney and Melbourne will be moved to larger venues to meet the overwhelming demand. The shows will remain on their original dates.
Sydney’s Enmore Theatre performance will now take place at the Hordern Pavilion at full general admission. Seating is available in the venue but is not reserved.
MGMT tour takes on U.S., Europe, Australia
Brooklyn, NY-based indie rock group MGMT, the duo of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew Van Wyngarden, have been logging lots of time on the road lately, and will be touring Australia for the first time ever this December. The two will perform headline shows in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, December 6-11.
The two have been playing together since their days at Wesleyan University in Connecticut back in 2001. After graduating in 2005, they toured extensively in support of their "Time to Pretend" EP.
