Maxwell

Singer-songwriter Maxwell was born on May 23, 1973 in Brooklyn, New York. He's an American R&B artist and played an important role in developing the sub-genre called neo-soul. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for his 1996 debut album "Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite," which sold over two million copies earning it two times platinum status. He appeared on the 2008 BET Awards and performed the song "Simply Beautiful" in a tribute to Al Green.

During the fall of 2008, Maxwell returned to the road following a six-year hiatus, in support of his latest musical project, "BLACKsummers'night" which is the first installment to a trilogy of albums, the first of which was released starting July 7, 2009. The second installment, called "blackSUMMERS'night" is scheduled to be released in 2010 and the third, "blacksummers'NIGHT" in 2011. On his tour he has played "Pretty Wings", "Help Somebody", "Cold", "Bad Habits" and "Never Do W/Out You" from the 2009 album.

Maxwell tour postpones late summer concert dates until 2011

Over the past year, R&B singer Maxwell has been one of the touring industry's shining stars as he sold out extensive legs of his on-going national tour. But now the acclaimed vocalist has joined the rank of artists that have axed their summer treks.

The soulful singer has postponed nearly a dozen dates of his 2010 spring and summer tour, which would have started afresh June 28 at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC, and run through July 15 at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD.

Maxwell tour adds more late summer concerts for 'BLACKsummers'night'

Neo-soul crooner Maxwell has carved a comfortable niche for himself in the music industry since reemerging in 2009 with the chart-topping "BLACKsummers'night." After a couple high-demand tour legs to support that effort last year, the performer is getting ready to return to the road with a newly expanded U.S. itinerary.

His summer concert schedule, which begins May 21 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH, now extends through mid-summer and a scheduled July 15 gig at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, MD, with nearly a dozen new concert dates.

Maxwell tour relaunches in spring with help from Jill Scott

After a lengthy absence from recording and touring, Maxwell regained his position at the forefront of contemporary R&B and soul music with an award-winning album and several sold-out North American tour legs in 2008 and 2009.

Now the neo-soul singer hopes to continue his domination of the live music scene this spring with help from chanteuse Jill Scott. The pair has outlined plans for a 16-date arena tour that will launch May 21 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH, and conclude five weeks later on June 25 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY.

Maxwell, Bette Midler tickets on sale this weekend

Kicking off the weekend onsales are tickets to catch Bette Midler’s Las Vegas show live in person. The Divine Miss M has been packing audiences into her long-term engagement at Caesar’s Palace, and her stage show has a new block of tickets going on sale this morning. Tickets for upcoming concerts from the Jonas Brothers as well as tickets to see Maxwell live on stage are on sale throughout the week ending August 22 as compiled by TicketNews.

This week's onsales start off on Wednesday with tickets to catch rockers Say Anything on their upcoming tour. Among the concert dates on sale are stops in New York City, Orlando, Toronto, and San Diego. Metal rockers All That Remains have several concert dates in the Friday onsales, including shows in Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, and Denver. Fellow rocker Alice Cooper also has a pair of concert dates on sale Friday. The dates include stops in Daytona Beach and Montgomery, AL.

Maxwell tour follows sold-out summer season with new fall dates

Since releasing his first record in eight years, neo-soul singer Maxwell has proven that he's back -- in a big way. Since returning from his hiatus with the release of "BLACKsummers'night," the performer has topped the Billboard 200 and sold out tickets for his entire summer tour.

Maxwell hopes to continue his success this fall with a new round of at least 14 performances. The three-week autumn run begins September 25 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON, and ends October 17 in San Francisco, CA, at a venue that is yet to be determined.

The nearly 20-date jaunt picks up July 12 at Ryman Auditorum in Nashville, TN, and continues through August 5 at Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, NC. Highlights of the month-long run include a July 15 show at Palace Theatre in Columbus, OH, a July 24 concert at the Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City, NJ, and a July 31 gig at Waterfront Theatre in Miami, FL.

R&B crooner Maxwell tours again after six years

R&B crooner Maxwell has announced his triumphant return to the road with a 24-date fall trek -- his first in six years. The Maxwell Live '08 tour kicks off October 8 at the Opera House in Boston, MA, and wraps November 11 at the Susquehanna Arts center in Harrisburg, PA. A single performance is scheduled for Canada on October 12 at Massey Hall in Toronto, ON.

On his official MySpace page, Maxwell described the upcoming tour as a "pre-party" tour commemorating his forthcoming Black Summers' Night trilogy. In his blog, he frequently thanked fans for their continued support as he worked on new music.
