Michael Bolton

Michael Bolton, born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1953, is a singer-songwriter and former hard rock singer with the band Blackjack. His solo career started off in 1975 with his co-written hit “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” for the disco pop singer Laura Branigan. His greatest achievements as an artist occurred in the late 1980’s with his easy listening genre with hits like “(Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay” and “Georgia On My Mind.” Overall, Bolton is responsible for eight top ten albums, two number one singles on the Billboard charts, and a number of awards from both American Music Awards and Grammy Awards.

Bolton formed the Michael Bolton Foundation in 1993, which helps women and children of poverty and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. He has received a number of non-music related awards such as the Lewis Hine Award from the National Child Labor Committee, the Martin Luther King Award from the Congress of Racial Equality, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor from the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations.

Still active as a musician, Bolton most recently released “One World One Love,” his eighteenth studio album, in September of 2009 with hit single “Just One Love.”
