Missy Higgins is an award winning singer-songwriter based out of Australia who has received growing attention in the United States over the past couple of years. Her 2004 debut "The Sound of White" received critical acclaim in her native country, while the 2007 follow-up "On a Clear Night" gained recognition on the U.S. charts hitting No. 193 peak on the Billboard 200 and climbing to No. 7 on the Heatseekers list for top new artists.
Higgins' headlining tours in North America travel through medium-sized clubs and theaters, and regularly feature supporting sets from other up-and-coming singer-songwriters. She has also completed supporting turns with in larger venues with established acts such as the folk-rock duo Indigo Girls and piano-rock musician Ben Folds.
Missy Higgins tour announces new round of U.S. dates
Rising star Missy Higgins will bring her latest tour to the States this winter. The Australian singer-songwriter's 24-city jaunt will pick up February 19 at the House of Blues in Houston, TX, and wrap March 23 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA.
Along the way, the musician will stop for a February 27 set at The Loft in Atlanta, GA, a March 2 concert at 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, a March 7 performance at the new House of Blues venue in Boston, MA, a March 13 gig at Vic Theatre in Chicago, IL, and a March 20 show at Rialto Theatre in Tucson, AZ.
Missy Higgins tour supports Indigo Girls, Ben Folds
Australian indie rocker Missy Higgins is continuing her musical conquest of North America, and she's getting some help from two established musical acts this time around. Many of the dates on the singer-songwriter's upcoming tour leg are split between the Indigo Girls and Ben Folds. Of the 26 shows Higgins has scheduled, only two (September 27 at the University of Connecticut, and October 8 at Ohio University) are solo gigs.
After spending much of her summer traversing the East Coast and Mid-West, Higgins' new tour of the U.S. will take her from coast to coast. The trek begins September 11 in Spartanburg, SC, and wraps November 14 in Los Angeles, CA. Through September 22, Higgins will open for the Indigo Girls' tour. All dates afterwards, except for her two solo university performances, will be in support of rock pianist Folds' U.S. tour.
Missy Higgins tour adds another leg
Award-winning Aussie singer/songwriter Missy Higgins, fresh from her recent sold-out tour across the West Coast and Southern United States with Brett Dennen and Mason Jennings, has added another leg of dates.
Beginning July 10 in Madison, WI, the tour will take her through the Midwest and Northeast, including some Canadian dates, through August 5 in Kansas City, MO, where she will be headlining her largest U.S. venues to date. Warner Bros. label mate Eric Hutchinson will lend support, except for a sprinkling of selected solo dates on July 12 and 19 as well as August 5.
The Melbourne native will continue to keep her tour green by traveling in a bio diesel bus.
