Neil Diamond is an American pop singer whose career has spanned more than 40 years and distinguished him as one of the world's best selling recording artists, with more than 48.5 million national and 115 million international album sales to his name. Some of his best known songs include "Sweet Caroline," "Cracklin' Rosie," and "I Am...I Said." In 1984, Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Most recently, Diamond has been donating 100 percent of merchandise sales from his October concerts in Houston and Dallas, TX, and Oklahoma City, OK, to the hurricane relief efforts in Texas for areas ravaged by Hurricane Ike.

At the top of the news today, we have some details on U2's deal with tour promoter Live Nation, which the band signed back in March. Live Nation recently registered approximately more than one million shares of company stock for the rockers, with an estimated value of $18.5-$19 million. Jay Z and Madonna also inked similar deals with Live Nation within the past year.

Neil Diamond tour announces new dates for 2008-2009 itinerary

Iconic pop crooner Neil Diamond announced this week that his North American tour is far from reaching the end of the road. His current itinerary, which was originally scheduled to wrap on November 4, has been extended with dates through 2009.

The third leg of the trek will pick up November 22 at Alerus Center in Grand Forks, ND, and currently has shows booked through a January 8 gig at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, OR. Other stops along the way include a November 28 show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, and a December 15 concert at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO. The new leg also features two arena shows in Canada: November 30 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON, and December 2 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON.

Neil Diamond tour postpones Portland show due to production issues

Neil Diamond’s September 22 concert at the Rose Garden in Portland, OR, has been postponed. "Unforeseen tour production logistics" have been cited as the cause for the postponement, according to a statement posted on his Web site yesterday.

The concert will be rescheduled in the near future, but a date has not been announced yet. Tickets for the September 22 concert will be honored at the rescheduled performance. AEG Live is the tour producer.

Neil Diamond offers refund to Columbus audience

Following a disappointing performance in Columbus, OH, crooner Neil Diamond issued an apology -- and a refund -- to concertgoers.

Diamond, who was recently diagnosed with acute laryngitis, sang with a raspy and hoarse voice throughout the course of the August 25 show at Ohio State University. He reportedly did not inform the audience of his diagnosis, leaving many fans frustrated by his performance.

Diamond's concerts have always been a hot ticket, and now his 2008 North American tour, which launched July 19, is proving to be no different. After selling out multiple shows at several large venues, the singer-songwriter is adding more dates to his itinerary.

Neil Diamond ticket sales reach the number one spot

The legendary Neil Diamond has edged the hit musical Wicked out of the number one position in TicketNews's exclusive top events rankings for the week of April 28 - May 4, 2008. Diamond rose up from his second place finish last week to oust "Wicked" from its month-long run in the top slot. Diamond's 9.16 power score, which was nearly triple his score from last week, was more than double "Wicked"'s 4.67 score this week.

Other Top Events this week included the ever competitive New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox in third and fourth place with power scores of 3.10 and 2.54, and the second most popular musical, Jersey Boys, in fifth place with a score of 2.15.

Sweet Caroline! Legendary singer/ songwriter Neil Diamond has taken TicketNews's exclusive Top Events Rankings by force for the week of April 21 - April 27, 2008. This living legend climbed from 15th to second place over the past week as tickets for his highly anticipated North American tour have gone onsale across the country. Neil Diamond also earned first place on the Top Concert Events chart this week, beating out artists like The Eagles, Kenny Chesney, and Kanye West, who topped the list last week.

Neil Diamond's Overall Top Events power score of 3.41 was bested only by Wicked, which earned the first place position with a score of 4.78. Other top events this week included the New York Yankees in third place with a power score of 3.24, the Boston Red Sox in fourth with a 2.64 power score, and Jersey Boys in fifth with a score of 2.16. After two series against the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians, the Yankees record currently stands at 13-13, while the Red Sox are at 15-12 after facing the Los Angeles Angels and Tampa Bay Rays this past week.
