Rock band Oasis formed early in the 1990s and led Brit-pop bands on the U.S. charts with the 1995 release "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" The group remains a solid competitor on the U.S. charts, with five of their six albums placing within the top 10 on the Billboard 200. The band has often been plagued by the in-fighting between band leaders and brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.
During the band's 2008 tour of North America, guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher was attacked on stage mid-performance. His injuries forced the band to cancel or postpone a series of concerts. Though their ticket sales don't place them in the same league as top-sellers like Bruce Springsteen or Madonna, Oasis strictly books arenas and stadiums during their North American tours.
Noel Gallagher, Liam Gallagher book separate North American tours
Rock's famed feuding brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, have plans to tour North America at the end of this year — but they won't be touring together.
After their acclaimed rock act Oasis called it quits, Noel and Liam's paths diverged as they began work on separate musical projects. Now the two have announced separate tours for those projects that will take them across the United States and Canada before year's end.
Oasis concerts cancelled as Noel Gallagher quits group
Noel Gallagher, Oasis' songwriter and lead guitarist, has quit the group he co-founded with his brother, lead singer Liam, 18 years ago. The announcement came on August 28 minutes before the group was to take the stage at Rock en Seine in Paris, FRA.
"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight," Noel posted on the band's Web site. "People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer. Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan."
Oasis cancels V Festival appearance due to illness
Oasis cancelled its August 23 headlining slot at the annual V Festival at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, ENG, after frontman Liam Gallagher came down with viral laryngitis. Snow Patrol filled the headline spot.
“After a year of being on the road, this is the first performance to be lost to a band member's illness, so naturally we are all gutted,” the band said in a statement on its Web site.
Oasis tour forced to cancel first-ever concerts in China
The restrictive hand of Chinese politics has forced the cancellation of Oasis' first-ever concerts in April.
The British rockers, currently on a world tour promoting "Dig Out Your Soul," were scheduled to perform April 3 at Beijing's Capital Arena and April 5 at Shanghai Grand Stage. After the Chinese government learned that Noel Gallagher had performed a five-song set at a 1997 Free Tibet benefit in the U.S., it deemed the shows "unsuitable."

During their performance, a man (referred to on the band's Web site as "an invader") rushed Gallagher from the back of the stage and shoved him from behind. Gallagher fell heavily on to his monitor speakers, bruising his hip and ribs; he was examined briefly at a hospital, and his doctor advised him to rest.
