The recent buzz surrounding overnight singing sensation Susan Boyle is reminiscent of another “Britain’s Got Talent” alumnus. After captivating the world and winning the reality show’s 2007 season, Paul Potts has enjoyed a successful recording and touring career, which will bring him to the United States this summer.

The opera singer will visit 10 cities from coast to coast, beginning with a July 6 show at Nokia Theater in Grand Prairie, TX, and ending July 21 at Warner Theater in Washington, DC. Other highlights include a July 9 performance at Beacon Theatre in New York, NY, a July 17 concert at the Borgata’s Music Box Theater in Atlantic City, NJ, and a July 20 show at Rosemont Theater in Chicago, IL.

The first public on-sale begins today, May 1, for Potts’ performance at the Beacon Theatre. Box offices for the tour’s other confirmed dates will open throughout the coming week, with final batch of on-sales starting May 8.

Potts, an unsuspecting mobile phone salesman at the time, was pushed into the international limelight when his audition for the first season of “Britain’s Got Talent” became a viral hit on the Internet. During his first appearance on the show, Potts gave a powerhouse performance of Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” that instantly captivated the studio audience and spread his name around the world overnight.

“In life you sometimes take a turn you weren’t expecting, you don’t know where it leads but you have to take that path. This is what happened with me and ‘Britain’s Got Talent,'” Potts is quoted on his official Web site. “I still don’t know where this wonderful journey is headed but I certainly appreciate every moment of it.”

Potts is currently touring to support his second studio album, “Passione,” scheduled for U.S. release on May 5. According to his Web site, Potts’ debut release, 2007’s “One Chance,” has sold approximately 3.5 million records worldwide and topped the record charts in 15 countries.

“The second album is always a challenge, when your first is such a success you cannot be complacent and believe the second will do the same,” Potts said in a statement about his latest release. “There is more pressure, you have to work harder, be bigger, better, this is the same for every artist.”
