Roger Waters tour to revisit Pink Floyd classic 'The Wall' in North America
For the first time in about two decades, Roger Waters will undertake a cover-to-cover performance of one of contemporary music's most acclaimed works. Beginning in late summer, the veteran musician will play "The Wall" to audiences across North America before taking the tour overseas in 2011.
The 35-date North American trek launches September 15 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON, and concludes about three months later on December 13 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.
Pink Floyd founding member and keyboardist Rick Wright dies
Richard "Rick" Wright, founding member and keyboardist of the legendary rock band Pink Floyd, died earlier today, September 15, after a battle with cancer. The self-taught musician was 65 years old.
"The family of Richard Wright, [founding] member of Pink Floyd, announce with great sadness that Richard died today after a short struggle with cancer," Wright's spokesman said in a statement. "The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."
Pink Floyd might reunite, says guitarist
Although talks of a full Pink Floyd reunion continue to resurface, and just as quickly get knocked down, the band's guitarist David Gilmour hinted during a recent radio interview with BBC 6Music that the band could reform again for more gigs like they did for 2005's Live8 one-off charity show. Or it could be just another one-off concert.
The 62-year-old Gilmour told BBC 6Music:"Who knows? Who knows the future? I haven't absolutely said 'no' to the possibility, but I think that in reality any sort of long-term thing together is not going to happen. At my incredibly advantaged age - having achieved this - I've earned the right to sit on my ass for a little while and consider what to do next."
