Rob Thomas got his start as the lead singer/songwriter for the American rock band Matchbox Twenty. After almost a decade with the group, Thomas broke out into a solo career with 2005’s “…Something to Be.” The album reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 and reached platinum status in the U.S., as well as charting in several other countries.
Thomas didn’t break completely away from Matchbox Twenty, however, as in 2007 the group released their most recent album, “Exile on Mainstream,” attaining gold status in the U.S. In June of 2009, Thomas released his most recent solo album, entitled “Cradlesong,” which reached #3 on the Billboard 200. He launched his tour supporting the album in September 2009, taking his music all over the U.S. and Canada.
