Saving Abel (currently composed of Jared Weeks, Jason Null, Scott Bartlett, Eric Taylor and Blake Dixon) was founded by Weeks and Null in 2004. The group self-released their first album in 2006, and they finally got their big break when they signed with Virgin Records almost a year later. Their first major studio album, a self-titled release, was produced in 2008. It reached #49 on the Billboard 200 (plus #4 on the U.S. hard rock charts and #5 on the U.S. rock charts) and achieved gold record status in the United States.
The group has continued its recording success, releasing an EP called “18 Days Tour” in 2009. The group has been busy touring as well, joining with Nickelback in the spring of 2009 and continuing to tour throughout the summer, co-headlining with Hinder, Papa Roach and Nickelback as well as performing on their own.
Saving Abel, Daniel Johnston and more: Daily tour recap
Alice Cooper's latest U.S. trek and a few UK news items top the daily tour recap for August 25, as compiled by TicketNews.
Rock veteran Alice Cooper is just a few weeks away from bringing his Theatre of Death show to U.S. cities on a six-week tour leg. The venture will hit more than 20 markets across the country, playing classics from Cooper's music catalogue and "killing" his character on stage multiple times a night.
Saving Abel tour focuses on clubs
Rock quintet Saving Abel will be bringing their brand of hard, southern rock to the concert trail this summer, first on a 23-city headlining club tour May 28 - July 4. They will then join up with Puddle of Mudd for a two-month series of tour dates beginning July 5 in Biloxi, MS and ending up August 23 in Raleigh, NC.
Saving Abel was formed by Jared Weeks and guitarist Jason Null in 2004 in their hometown of Corinth, MS. Now based in Memphis, TN, the band's complete lineup includes guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Eric Taylor and drummer Blake Dixon. They are touring in support of their self-titled Skiddco/Virgin debut album, released in March. The album is a follow up to their 2005 self-titled EP.
