Sonic Youth

Sonic Youth formed in 1981 in New York City. They started off as the Arcadians in late 1980 until Thurston Moore renamed the band Sonic Youth, which combines the nickname of Fred “Sonic” Smith and Big Youth. They have 16 studio albums, their first being “Confusion is Sex” which was released in 1983. Their most recent album, “The Eternal” was released in June 2009.

Sonic Youth is performing in the U.S., starting November 21 in New York City, Boston, MA and end in Brooklyn, NY. Then they will be performing their West Coast postponed shows (due to an injury) in Arizona and California in January 2010.

Leading the day's headlines is an announcement from country singer-songwriter Brad Paisley. The chart-topping musician will continue his American Saturday Night Tour through the new year with about two months of winter 2010 concerts, supported by Miranda Lambert and Justin Moore.

Sonic Youth tour reschedules fall U.S. dates due to injury

Trailblazing alternative rock group Sonic Youth has been forced to postpone most of the dates on a fall tour of the Southwest due to an injury within the band.

Affected concerts were originally booked for September 25 at Fox Theatre in Pomona, CA; September 28 at the House of Blues in San Diego, CA; September 29 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA; October 1 at The Marquee in Tempe, AZ; and October 2 at the Rialto Theatre in Tuscon, AZ.

Sonic Youth tour begins 'Eternal' dates in U.S. this summer

As they await the release of their latest studio effort, the alternative rock experimenters of Sonic Youth have lined up plans for a summer tour of the U.S. The 21-city venture begins June 28 at Vic Theatre in Chicago, IL, and closes August 2 at Fox Theater in Oakland, CA.

During its five-week run, the tour will perform from coast to coast, including a July 3 gig at United Palace in New York, NY, a July 13 show at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA, a July 21 concert at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN, and a July 31 session at Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO. Ticket pre-sales for the tour begin May 1, followed by the start of public on-sales on May 2.
