Staples Center Sets Attendance Records
By Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
The Staples Center in Los Angeles set new records in a few attendance and concessions categories last month, hosting three sold concerts by Justin Timberlake on Sept. 16-17 and Sept.19, four sold out Mana' concerts on Sept. 20-23 and two Los Angeles Kings pre-season hockey games on Sept. 15 and Sept. 18.
The records were: selling out seven concerts in eight days, which had never been done before in the arena's eight-year history; Mana’ being the first Latin artist or group to sell out and play four consecutive nights at the venue (the only other artist to attain that feat was Neil Diamond in September 2005); food and beverage sales over the nine day run, brought in more than $1.8 million from the seven concerts and two hockey games.
