In 1967, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker met at Bard College, discovered a mutual interest in jazz, and ultimately formed the group known as Steely Dan. Their popularity grew over the next decade, as they released several classic, studio albums (featuring a unique blend of jazz, rock and other popular music) and took their act on the road between 1972 and 1974. In 1981 the group disbanded, after selling millions of albums, and its members mostly stayed out of the professional music scene.
However, the group reunited in 1993 with the launch of a U.S. tour, and in 2000 they released a new album, “Two Against Nature,” followed in 2003 by “Everything Must Go.” Steely Dan has toured every summer since 2006, most recently embarking on the Left Bank Holiday European tour and the Rent Party Tour ’09 in the summer of 2009. The group has sold over 30 million albums during their 40+ year history, but perhaps their biggest accomplishment was getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and honor bestowed upon them in March 2001.

The dapper duo will be supported, as always, by their tight, sophisticated band of world-class R&B and jazz players. Set lists may also sample from Fagen’s just released “Nightfly Trilogy” and Becker’s upcoming solo album, “Circus Money” due June 10. They will hand select the opening acts, including rising jazz star Sam Yahel and his Organ Trio for several dates.
